Exciting News

Thanks to a friend on Seven Seas Entertainments Forum, 59cobalt, I just learned for fans of Aria, that it seems Tokyopop has not only picked up the license of this series from ADV, but has also picked up the license for the series to Aqua. Aqua takes place prior to the events in Aria. It tells the story of how Akari Mizunashi made her hway to Neo-Venezia, the reproduction of Venice and it's beautiful canals.

This is very exciting news to fans of Aria who only saw the first three volumes released before ADV put the series on hiatus and eventually it seems sold the license. It's also wonderful to see the first part of this story picked up which hopefully has the same beautiful artwork and very peaceful story telling.

While a few other Blogs mention this, Anime News Network so far only mentions Tokyopop has the right to Aqua, as well as several other former ADV titles such as Tacits, but no confirmation I can find as to Aria.

What is amazing to me is how quietly this seems to have been done, no big announcements and the news itself is about a month old. That leaves me wondering if any other titles from other companies, such as Hanayuko Maid Team, have been picked up.

Look for a review of these this weekend and the other promised reviews later this weekend early next week. The trip was very tiring with all the delays on interstates.
